Many
people know that it is good luck on your wedding day for a chimney sweep
to shake the hand of the groom and give the bride a kiss of good luck,
but do you know the story behind this ancient tradition? Well here is
how it goes;
In
the seventeen hundreds King George II was riding in his carriage when
out of the blue his horses bolted. A man with a sooty face came from the
crowd to help try and stop them and calm them down. Having helped the
King re-gain control of his horses and saving his life, being grateful,
he declared that all chimney sweeps from then on would be a lucky omen.
When people saw a chimney sweep they thought
they would be blessed with good luck and as the years went by it became
a tradition to have a chimney sweep attend your wedding, therefore
blessing your future marriage with good luck and happiness. Why
not carry on this tradition and have a real life chimney sweep dressed
in working chimney sweep clothes to greet your guests, shake the hand of the
groom and give the bride a kiss, blessing your marriage with good luck
and happiness. For
